It’s off to New York tomorrow evening. I’m taking a red eye on Virgin America. The bf wants to stand in line for the new 3G iPhone and I’m just along for the ride.

Planning our outings including art, dinner and drinks, I came across the most fantastic dedicated club night.

“Salvation” as they call it, is a regular club night thrown on a monthly basis in NY. The music featured is very dark focusing on Gothic, Industrial, EBM (electronic body music) and Dark Dance. This particular evening showcases Ronan Harris of VNV Nation.

I am always drawn to these types of events as the fashion and style lurking in the corners are absolutely remarkable. Encompassing Gothic Lolita, Fetish, Gothic, Cyber Punk, Neo Punk, Steam Punk, Rivet Heads and the like; there is always a delightful representation of individuality and creativity.

So, if you’re in NY and you want to come and appreciate the darker side of life, please join me.

Fantastic Contraption

July 9, 2008

Art these days isn’t just paint on a canvas or ink on paper. People are diving deeper and deeper into futuristic interpretations of visual delights.

Feast your eyes on Fantastic Contraption, an exhibition at the Device Gallery in La Jolla. Part steam punk, part cyber wave, part robotics, this show will NOT disappoint.
